Took Dexter to the vet...

jakeleolizard Mar 22, 2004 07:58 AM

Hi all,

I took Dexter to the vet on Friday... I am glad I did...

He was down to 27g... which is thin... she said that he does not have worms, parasites, blockage, respiratory or anything... he just has a bad infection from his nose... from the hitting the top of the cage and making it raw... that led into an infection in his eyes as well...

He is on 4 meds.... hand feed food mixture given through a syringe with a little cathetor tube on it, oral antibiotic, eye drops with antibiotic, and triple antibiotic ointment for his nose.

It cost me $116 all together... but he seems to be perking up already... she also said to get rid of the bedding and just put a towl or felt in the bottom... he was rubbing his eyes b/c they itched and she had to flush his eyes b/c they had the little walnut chips in them... she said it would have been worse with sand....

I hope he pulls through this... Just thought I would let you know what was up... and hopefully this will help someone...

Laterrrrrrr.

JIM

... but he isn't out of the forest yet... she said the next couple of weeks will be tough.... so I do what I am suppose to and even go home and check on him at lunch.... (along with the puppy) and give him his eye drops.... he sure is sleeping a lot... but then again... that could be all the antibiotics.... his color is coming back... so that is cool.... !
