Indian Star in need of help

cbreeze Mar 22, 2004 08:51 AM

Hello,

I have a female Indian Star Tortiose approx. 11" and 10 years old. She is showing all the classic signs of a respritory infection, cough and a her nose runs from time to time. She is eating well and there are no bowel issues. My "pen" is inside where one end is about 95F the other in the 70's and water is always available.

I tried adding more heat but she then moves away from it. Should I press the issue with the heat by placing her in a smaller container? Are there any antiboitics out there that will not kill off her intestinal flora? Other suggestions? Local vets not much help.

Thanks in advance, Cbreeze

If she is moving away from the heat then dont push it! this will only stress her further! You may want to locate another vet (maybe not local) who specialized in exotics. meanwhile slightly increase her vitamin A intake, keep her cage as clean as you can And consider using antibiotics! Hope this helps!
