Hognose Shedding question

hairijuana Mar 22, 2004 10:32 AM

hello everyone. i've been keeping westerns for years and recently switched from crushed walnut to aspen (i never had a single problem with crushed walnut and continue to use it with my tortoises and bearded dragons). I chose aspen for it's ability to hold the burrows. When I switched to aspen, I removed the decorative rocks from the cages. Will the hogs be able to shed properly in a cage with only aspen shavings and a water bowl? Just wanted to knwo what everyone's experience with this is. Thanks for any advice!

my baby shed fine in her sterilite box with aspen shavings and nothing but a smooth water bowl. If you are worried though, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to stick a rock back in there when they get ready to shed.

Thanks for the reply, I had a feeling it wouldn't be a problem, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask!
