Hibernation

Where would you reccommend putting a garter during hibernation? By this I mean, somewhere with a constant 55°F. Where do you guys put yours? I want to try to breed my two red-sideds next season( about 85% positive they are male/female) and I am just thinking WAY ahead of time. Thanks everyone.

You need to be a little lower than that.I keep mine at 40-45.You get around 55 and they are crawling around.

In some cases it's good to think ahead of time. I don't know good temps. for garter hibernation, but I brumated my baby northern ringneck for 3 months in my attic at a constant temp. of 50 to 55. It's not that hard to find a place with a 50 degree temperature, when winter is nearing, test it, try a bunch of different areas in your home to see where temps. stay around 50 and don't exceed 60, or go below 30.
