i was wondering if i could feed my blackthroat eggs and if so how should i prepare them? should i boil them or give them raw?
Yes, I feed my monitor hard-boiled eggs. Just boil them, peel off the shell and serve
thanks for the help by the way are there any con with feeding eggs because ive heard that there were but it wasnt from a reliable source?
i forgot to mention that my parents are very strict and vegetarians so they wont let me buy feeder mice or cockroaches and i doubt they will let me buy chicken or turkey
so are there many other foods tyhat i can buy for randal when he is larger?
I don't own a blackthrought (yet), and I don't pretend to be an expert on them. But if you're going vegatarian, you've picked the wrong lizard. Insects will keep him happy as a baby, but he will soon need mice, and or rats. My tegus love scrambled eggs, but it is only a treat. It does tend to stink when it comes out the other end.
Wxplain to your parents that it is "natural" for them to eat these things. Adults have large heads and will need large amounts of meat such as huge rats and even smaller rabbits. Babies need crix and rodents of other meats to grow. You can't just feed them eggs, so you got to convience your parents!LOl
exactly what i told them and they said no so i have to get rid of him so im taking him back on monday which is very upsetting and im getting a veiled chameleon instead since my parents wont let me get anything else.
Let me get this straight, you're planning to feed your monitor according to your parents' strict vegetarian diet?
Sell the monitor, or give it away, immediately. Do not pass 'GO'. Buy yourself a rabbit, hamster or guinea pig. Rats actually make even better pets and would cope with a vegetarian diet. Forget about keeping monitors until you move out.

Also, your parents beliefs shouldn't affect your animals needs. Just because your parents are vegatarians doesn't mean that you should feed your animals based on them. No attitude intended, but if your parents won't allow rodents and roaches, then you should sell or give away your blackthroat. Try to convience them.
I feed whole animals as 99% of their diet (mice, chickens, quail, rats, roaches, crickets, etc). Eggs are something they get once every month or less.
