Hey Everyone!
Yep, I haven't been here in a while, in fact, so long, I forgot the name of this website haha I've missed all of you, but life has me incredibly busy both at home and at work. Winter is the busiest time at work for me, so I barely have time to write the word hello in an email much less write anywhere else. Hopefully I'll start to get more time as the weather warms....but I won't hold my breath either lol
For those of you who remember me, I'm sorry to report that Xanthe, my little disabled baby with the hunched back died a few months ago
She was the same age as her clutch mates (3 yrs), and the others had never gone into brumation until this year. I was worried about Xanthe going into brumation, so I only let her sleep for a few days at a time before I woke her up to eat. Well, I ended up in the hospital for a couple of weeks and had my daughter caring for the gang. I guess at one point when she woke Xanthe up, she was bitten, so was afraid to wake her again (this didn't come out until recently), so she ended up sleeping most of the time I was hospitalized. When I came home, Xanthe was gone! I don't know if it was the brumation that hurt her or if it was something else. Most people (including myself for a while) didn't think she would live long, so who knows.
Anyway, because I have never had a dragon go into brumation, I kinda need help. I realize it's normal for them to lose some weight while sleeping, and mine have definitely have lost some. I have had dragons for years and can't believe this is my first experience with brumation! So, any suggestions on how to fatten these kids up? They've been awake for about a week now, but still don't eat much. When I'd wake them to eat during brumation, they'd eat while sleeping, sometimes falling asleep in their dishes or with pieces of greens sticking out of their mouths haha
I don't want to fatten them up too fast, and they aren't dangerously thin, they just don't look like themselves. They're still falling asleep while standing, so I guess they aren't completely out of the sleeping stage yet, but like I said, this is my first experience with brumation.
So, any ideas on how to get these kids back to normal weight is greatly appreciated. I'm assuming I just feed them their normal diet and wait for them to gain weight, but if there's something else I should know please tell me! As much as I've read this website I should remember what I've read about brumation, but unfortunately I don't.
