Real beginer has a question

This could be the easiest question ever posted but remember we were all new to this once upon a time.

OK here goes.

I have a diamond Python about 5 months old. It is eating well, first fuzzies about one every two weeks and recently the kids have been feeding it 1 live mouse every now and then for a bit of entertainment. It had shed once since I have had it and is certainly not constipated. I keep it in a box that is probably 2.5 ft x 2.5 ft b 3.5ft high (An old stereo cabinet converted). I have a white and red light on timers, during the day temp is about 28 c and at night with the red light about 19-20c

THE PROBLEM
Just recently the snake has taken to hiding under the paper mat I have put on the base of its box. It has large rocks and logs to hind under but still prefers to get right underneath the paper and just sit there for days.

Is this normal?? I thought maybe the temp was too high but?????

Thanks for your help.

Snakes like to hide in the tighest and least revealing place possible. He's thinking 'Hey! This is great! Covered on all sides! Woohoo!'. He probably won't use the hidebox over the paper unless its so small he can barely cram himself in.

Well get used to it. Snakes will typically find the one place you dont want them to go and then go there. You mentioned that you had large rocks and logs to hide under. I would advise to make sure that nothing could fall or crush the snake, a diamond is a beautiful and pricy snake to lose. Otherwise, its sounds like you Diamond is perfectly fine.
