Is there a breed of small rats?

AndrewEichhorn Mar 22, 2004 08:43 PM

I have been breeding several colonies of mice to feed my various size rosy boas. I use mice pinkies for the neonate rosies and retired adult breeder mice for my large coastal rosies. The smell, cannalbilism, and nervousness of mice is starting to push me towards keeping rats. Is there a breed of rat that is smaller than the average size rat that I could use for my rosy boas---if there is, where can I purchase some? Thanks

A little tip, Buy a pair or two of rats, let them have babies, let the babies grow till the proper size for the reptile you are feeding. Kill the rats you intend to feed and put them into a freezer. All my snakes eat rats, from kingsnakes all the way up to the anaconda.
