Impaction at pet store continued...

fadetolemons Mar 22, 2004 08:52 PM

well for those of you who read my post earlier (it's down the page some) about the leo at the pet store that looked really really sick, i went back today and he was gone, and i'm pretty sure they hadn't sold him. I asked one lady about it and she said she didn't know what i was talking about.

I left you a long message down on the original thread if you would like to read it...

you also have to watch whom you ask at the store. some employees might be floating around the store helping where they're needed but not really know anything about the store animals.

their are things that go on in a PetSmart store (such as backrooms) that we are not allowed to speak to customers about. we can loose our jobs over that (which is stupid...but you know...).

Yeah i had read your messege below. But yeah, I was hoping someone had realized something and had taken the leo to get help, but i dunno. Oh well

I have myself taken store reptiles to my personal vet (at PetSmart's expense). Recently the corporation has made a rule saying everything must be approved by the district director BEFORE taking to a vet. So basically we're having to go up the chain of command just to get the buggers to the vet. If you have a district director more interested in saving the $1000 vet bill each PetSmart is allowed every month (and thankfully, that's not a concern at my store), only the more expensive birds will be going to the vet.

I can't speak for all the stores, but at mine, we take all animals we suspect are ill off the floor for treatment. Then again, it helps that we're all very vocal and bull headed...We won't take "no" for an answer when it comes to our charges. Then yet again, no one under the age of 19 is in our department to muddle things up...

I really do, because the Petsmart about an hour away from here where i got my 3 leos was really good, and the girl that was showing me the leos and stuff knew everything about them, and one leo was about to shed so she said i couldn't take him home that day, i'd have to come back when he's done shedding if i wanted to because it would be too hard for him to travel during shedding. So i thought that was cool, and i think it really just depends on the store and the employees
