stress on a geko

epreptile89 Mar 22, 2004 10:09 PM

i know that it is hard for a geko to for,,,

1. get a new home and then get another new home 2 weeks later

2. have another geko in the pin with you

3. have a male geko in the cage with you that doesnt share his hide with you at all.

4. i could tell that she was stressed out because she was breathing hard and she was just sort of not wanting to sit still it seems as if someone that has had her didnt take good care of her didnt get her out much always just feed her and kept a good diet on her.... i am not sher wat to do got any ideas ??
thanx, Brandon

Put her in a cage by herself and leave her alone. Don't handle her or bother her. She should be by herself especially if she is smaller then the male. If she isn't in good condition to breed she could have problems if they do breed.
You should read some of the caresheets here and do a seach for more if needed.

The other gecko is probably what's stressing her out...like I told you before, you need to put her in her own enclosure... It would probably also help if you left her alone for awhile and when you do start trying to handle her, just put your hand in for awhile without even touching her and do this repeatedly until she is comfortable with your hand in there, then gradually you can start moving your hand closer to her and eventually she'll let you pick her up.
