Time for bigger food?

triniian Mar 22, 2004 10:29 PM

I have 2 CB MID'03 BPs. They are 26" and eat one large adult live mouse/week.

After the last 3 feedings, they have been active the evening of feeding, rather than resting a day or two for digestion. Should I increase their food to two large adult mice per week or move up to rats? Or is this normal of older BPs?

I am worrysome about introducing the balls to rats, but know it must come some day.

Thanks guys.

I say introduce them to rats. Rats are all I feed my balls, they are better for them. To introduce a mouse feeding ball to rats start with rat pups and leave them in the cage and if the don't eat it right away, they usually will that night. Feed them rat pups for a couple weeks then move up too a rat crawler or small rat depending on the size of your snake. If you snake is eating 1 mouse a week, feed them 2-3 rat pups a week until they get acclimated to rats. I have an '03 cb that is about 310 grams and she eats 4 rat pups a week.
