Introducing one to another

deejay17 Mar 22, 2004 10:52 PM

I recently received a new RES from a friend. It is about 1.25 inches. Right now I have it qaurantined in a tuperware container with plants, basking with a uvb light and a filter. There is a bunch of ghost shrimp in there with it, but I really dont think it is eating right now. It is basking alot with head up and legs streched out so I am not really worried right now. I was wondering how long should it be quarantined? After quarantine how should I introduce it to Oregano? I was thinking a little bit at a time (1 hour a day one week, 2 hours a day the next week, 3 hours a day the next week and so on)? Thank you everyone and God Bless.

I am happy to hear that you are keeping them seperated.
This is a very important step that many people do not
do and which can cause alot of problems when you
introduce a sick one to your healthy one.

I would keep him quarantined for at least 6 weeks.
If he is eating and seems to be OK, you can go ahead
and introduce them. You shouldn't have a lot of problems
as they are both young.

Enjoy!
