Jason Penney are you out there? Pics wanted

bpatillo Mar 23, 2004 12:38 PM

I have an old file (2002) with some of your pics in it.I need permission to use some of your photos in safety training I do for my employees.

I need good, color pictures of Mojave Greens and also Sidewinders
I don't remember the scientific names of them but for the sidewinders all I find are the ones in Mexico or the sonoran desert. I need the Mojave Desert snakes. Preferably from the area of Mojave and Ridgecrest, Ca

I appreciate any photos that show true coloring and scale if possible.

Thanks in advance, Bobbi Patillo - Safety Coordinator bpatillo@hra.com

The scientific names for the snakes you mentioned are:

Mojave Rattlesnake- Crotalus scutulatus scutulatus, there is a subspecies, the Humantlan rattlesnake (found in Mexico) which is C.s.salvini.

There are 3 subspecies of sidewinder, and they are

Crotalus cerastes cerastes (Mojave Desert Sidewinder)
C.c.cercobombus (Sonoran desert sidewinder)
C.c.laterorepens (colorado desert sidewinder)
