Vision caging

el_toro Mar 23, 2004 04:25 PM

Who uses Vision cages? How do they work for uros? What model/style do you use, and do you have the extra vents? How is it set up (types and wattages of lights, UVB, etc)

I worry that there's not much flexibility in the heating/lighting options.

Thanks, everyone!

Hi Torey,

I don't use them, but when I have seen them in use I always felt they were so dark and enclosed looking, but maybe it's just me. I use custom made glass tanks for my uros with sliding glass doors in front and I cover three sides with a desert background. It looks nice and is easy to clean and bright inside too. I'm sure you'll get some other opinions from people who actually use the visions. Good luck.

Pam

Hi Pam,
I've been trying to find a desert background for my tank. May I ask where you found yours?

Thanks!

Damn those things are pricey as heck!

This one: (Width x Depth x Height) - 54" 36" 18" is $282.99.

Check this out about shipping:
NOTE* Freight for this item is not less than $150.00, keep this in mind when you are shopping around, and be sure to ask the other retailers if freight is included in their price, as it is not in ours!

$150 shipping??? It's only 75 lbs. I had a full truck exhaust system shipped (80 lbs) for around 40$.

I'd have to agree that vision cages are very pricey.I don't see the need to use them for Uros. The low humidity req'd in their habitat prevents a lot of bacteria from forming, eliminating the need for constant disinfecting. I can see the functionality of the vision line for anything that requires the higher humidity, they look like they are a snap to clean.

Thanks! I'd love to see pictures if you have them. What kind of lighting do you use? UVB fluorescent and halogen? MV?

Thanks for the input.
