For those interested, here are some pix of our Snow dragon laying her eggs

dragonsbynature Mar 23, 2004 07:27 PM

Hey guys,

Here are some pictures of Starburst in her egg laying box making a mess of things as usual. She dropped 29 perfect eggs for us and this is her first clutch of the season. Anyway, just thought ya'll might like some pictures of her going at it.

Noticed her digging early this morning and dropped her in:

This is her checking things out and wondering why I was still there she had work to do:

Couple of hours later after she was done. Notice the drop in weight and thickness of her body. This is why it's so important to replenish a female dragon as quickly as possible.

Picture of the eggs:

Another shot:

Hope you liked the pix.

I'm sure they'll be beautiful babies like last season. Is this the same cross as last season with Caesar? I actually had Candy in the laying bin today to for her second clutch, but nothing yet. Think I got a bit excited, and jumped the gun with putting her in today. She really slowed down on her eating the last two days, and in the last week or so she blew up a lot. I can count nice formed eggs in her tummy again. I was early today, but I don't see her holding them for much longer. Good luck with all the babies Brandon, and thanks for sharing the pictures.

Hey man, thanks a lot. Yea, this is the Ceasar x Starburst line that produced the Orange Snows from last year. I'll post some updates pix of them later to show how some of them turned out.

Awesome about Candy... i'm pretty excited to see how those babies turn out... should be quite impressive considering the parents. You'll have to post a lot of pictures.

Congrats on the new clutch when she drops.. hopefully it will be soon!

Thanks Cheri! Yea, she came out of it quite well.. she's always been a good strong health breeder. Last year she laid six clutches and 148 eggs.. all but three were good. I was quite surprised because we only breed our dragons one time per year... whatever we get we get. We don't put the males back in with the females after they lay or a few months later to keep them going. We only breed one time, wait three days, then breed again to make sure he got her and that's all we do for the year.

When I checked on her after a few hours I could tell she was done bc she was "smaller" and filthy and on the other side of the box and just had that look that you can clearly see she was done.. but when I picked her up I was quite happy to see that she really didn't lose that much weight at all..

She's doing great thanks for asking. I rinsed her off in warm water to clean her up and gave her a small soak then put her to bed.. she slept peacefully throughout the night and the next morning was chowing down on greens and crix again... she looks in good shape.

Thanks a lot Tracey! Yea, last year she produced some really nice babies.. we got a few that were all white, and a few that were bright white with intense orange stripes down their back.. we held most of those back. I just really love the light colored dragons they are my personal favorite.

Can't wait to see your stock this year as well. We'll be needing to make a trip to AZ
