Lethargic Blue Dumpy

kittypoop7 Mar 23, 2004 08:02 PM

Hi there, I'm concerned about one of my blue dumpy frogs. My tank accidentially got too dry and he curled up underneath the water bowl yesterday. I misted down the tank really well as soon as I realized this and made sure I poured some water on him. When I got home today he was still curled up in the same spot so I took him out and soaked him in water. I offered him some crickets but he wasn't interested and barely opened his eyes. I left him there for a few minutes then picked him up and dangled a cricket in front of his face. His eyes opened wide and he let out a loud croak, but he didn't eat. He's had his eyes open since I did this about 5 minutes ago so he looks a little better than when I first took him out. Do you know what else I can do to make him feel better? I feel awful about letting the tank get too dry, it usually is very moist and gets sprayed down twice a day.

I put him back in his tank and he's lying there looking miserable. Every few seconds he squeezes his eyes shut and kind of looks like he's swallowing hard. Please help!

he's probably dehydrated. dehydrattion usually takes a little while to get over. i'm not a vet, so someone else probably has better advice. =)

This happened to my dumpy, too, but not a badly as yours. try putting LOTS of holes in a tupperware lid, and fill it with a bit of water. I left mine for 10 mins and he was fine and happy.
