Who helps more to increase the terror: Bush or Sharon?

H+E Stoeckl Mar 23, 2004 08:56 PM

Killing the Hamas leader is another 1000 gallons of fuel in the flame of terror, only comparable with the stupid war on Iraq.

Sharon made Jassin a martyr now and the palestinians are more livid as ever.

With such actions the 21th century will take its place in the book of history as the age of the war of orient on the occident.

We can count the days until a most cruelsome attack will be the answer.

who keeps fanning the flames of terror? Ayatollahs, Islamic clerics, Palestinians, Arabs, Mullahs, etc....

Why would the victims of terror be blamed for fanning the flames? The victims shouldn't try to protect themselves?

I guess, in your book, a victim of rape is asking for it, and the rapist is not to blame?

I see how this logic makes sense to you, because you probably believe in honor killings also. It is much more honorable to have murderers in the family, than a woman who is a victim of rape.

Blame the victims and exonerate the criminals! Yeah!---Not a world I want to see coming to America.

The correct answer to that is Both sides are....

The Islamic nations have fought the Franks (as many still call us)since the days of the Crusades. It is really still that same war for them-that they have periodicaly fought for many generations. At the heart of this is a nothing more than a combination of a Holy War and Tribal Blood Feud mentality that is more interested in getting even-than in peace. Their religion tells them that the surest way to get to their Heaven is to die killing the unbelievers.

A similar mentality seems to be the case with Sharon who wants to punish the Moslems for past aggressions. It is that same school yard "I have to get even or one up on you" mentality. There is no winning in this as niether side will quit till the other is destroyed beyound retaliation.

The US is at fault in that we put ourselves into a No-Win situation. Our western mentality led our leaders to think that they were fighting Nations and that the normal rules of war and victory would apply.

The problem is that the "war" is a very personal and moral issue to the Moslems. Each one fights his own personal war and so you cannot defeat them in a typical battle type war. Nor can you have a treaty that works because even if the governments sign it, there will allways be someone who will provoke a new situation to violate it so the fight can continue.

I am not saying that we did not have a moral right to defend ourselves. But the biggest mistake was to fool ourselves into thinking that this problem could be solved by conventional war and by removing the leaders of the terrorists. That just fuels their hatred and makes room for the next generation of terrorists.

The only solution that makes sense to me is to cut off the assets of these countries so they cannot finance large scale terrorism...and then isolate them so that they cannot export their fighters.

Good luck trying to do that....

... I don't understand that people like Bush and Sharon who are leading important countries do not have the wit to comprehend this.

Before the war on Iraq started a well known German jornalist who spent many years in the Middle East predicted exactly this situation that the US is facing now in Iraq.

So why the hell is a simple jornalist wiser than the US president with all his specialists and advisers?

While I agree with most of your post, I think you are missing a few things.

A similar mentality seems to be the case with Sharon who wants to punish the Moslems for past aggressions. It is that same school yard "I have to get even or one up on you" mentality. There is no winning in this as niether side will quit till the other is destroyed beyound retaliation.

Everytime peace is tried, it is the Muslims that attack to prevent it! They will never be happy. They want Israel gone. They can never accomplish their goal of pushing Israel into the sea, if there is peace. If that is ever accomplished, they still won't be happy because Europe and the US (non-believers) still exist. Then they will have to move on to Australia, South America, etc. When you say neither side will quit, that is not accurate. Israel has tried to quit a number times, but everytime they do, they get attacked yet again. What are they supposed to do? Just let the attacks keep coming? If they quit, and never hit back, do you think the Palestinians will eventually quit attacking? (Not until Israel doesn't exist.)

The Palestinians have been used as a pawn by the other Arab nations for quite some time. No Arab nations want them, or will accept them into their country, and the Palestinians won't even accept having their own country! (unless Israel is gone).

The US is at fault in that we put ourselves into a No-Win situation

I don't believe this is true. First, the majority of Iraqis are happy we are in Iraq, and they want us there. When the rest of the Arab nations see how much better off Iraq is (assuming this works), and how we helped them and weren't trying to colonize that country, opinions could change. It may not work, but not trying will only give us more of the same or worse (since technology advancements make for better weapons).

As for cutting off the assets they get from us. (money) That would be great. Unfortunately, with all the leftists and environmentalists in this country that force us to buy their oil, I don't see that ever happening until it is too late. Who opposes finding oil in this country? Who opposes nuclear plants?--the some ones who criticize our government for buying their oil, and make us dependent on it.

It was Sharon who started the second Intifada by marching on the Temple Hill (Islamic Sanctuary). He provoked the Palestinians in a time where peace was almost seizable.

Also, there are currents within the Jews in Israel who don't want peace either, otherwise they would not kill their own leader just for the fact that he wanted to make peace with the palestinians and almost accomplished this objective.

Also, would you love people who trespass to your estate, claim that they have lived here about 1500 hundred years ago and dispel you from your property? Maybe you should waste a thought on this...

On a second note I claim that the number of Iraqis who wants US soldiers in their country is decreasing with every day.

I totally agree with you as to the sources of terror and that terror needs to be fought.

What makes me shake my head in wonder is the methods. Even a child would understand that certain actions only cause another hundreds or even thousands of volunteers for the terrorists.
People who agree with the objectives of the terrorists but wouldn't have joined them are driven into their arms due to stupid actions like the war on Iraq or the killing of the Hamas leader.

Actions against terrorists requires stealth and intelligence. And a change of policy in order to run the swamp in which terrorism grows dry.

What we see now are some elephants who think that a stampede in the china shop would solve the problem.

Isreal and the arabs, have been fighting forever. And untill one wipes the other out, it will probally remain that way.
I support isreal, they dont bother no one and have a right to defend themselves, im surprised they havent done more to take out the arabs. I would have a long time ago, If i were them.
I agree we need to get out of Iraq, what a waste of time, but, we did get saddam and his monster sons. We need to give them thier country, and let them do what they want with it.
We need to focus on getting bin laden, and more importantly, take care of our terrorists here at home. There is so much crime and trechory(?) in this country, we dont need to look beyond our borders for a good fight.
I beleive we should start a war on gangs, hoodlums and drug dealers. Close dowm strip clubs and all porn should be made illegal. That would be a good cause worth fighting for.

Its just a matter of time untill someone pops a nuke off somewhere.
God help us all
