Red eyes and Phyllobates terribilis

geckguy Jun 12, 2003 09:47 AM

I am designing a display tank for my brother it will be a minumum of a 100 gallons, there will be plenty of plant cover, and hiding spots. I wanted to know if I could mix the terribilis with the redeyes. I know your not supposed to mix species, I even told my brother that but he wants a diurnal frog in there so he can see them during the day when he is awake, he also doesnt want to have another tank for his redeyes. This will be the main focus point in his new place, and I wanted to put a bold frog in there so when people areover they can see this awesome frog. So do you think there is a problem with mixing these two species, there about the same size, and ones nocturnal and the other one is diurnal and mainly stays on the floor of the tank.

This might work just don't get WC red eyes in with them terribilis and make shore the terribilis are big enough not to become a meal for the red eyes and visa versa

One problem you may have is the crickets. Any crickets that the red eyes don't eat will probably stress out the darts frogs. My adult red eyes eat 3/4 to full grown crickets. The other problem is the humidity. Red Eyes like 60-70% while the darts like 80-100. This could be tough keeping a happy balance.
