Trout Chow VS. Mazuri Aquatic Turtle diet for Boxes

IMacBevan Mar 24, 2004 08:54 AM

Does anyone have experience feeding either of these two diets to box turtles? Good? Bad?

I seem to recall reading that a 50lb bag of the Mazuri runs about $35 and when I checked at the local feed store Trout Chow (Aquamax by Purina) was about the same. Anyone know if someone else is making a cheaper version? I've heard rumor that O.H.Krause might, but can't find any info on it.

Thanks,
Ian

Ian, I actually use the Mazuri tortoise diet on my eastern boxies. I only use it on them occasionally though... lets say every week or two. My boxies are outdoors all year and are in a well planted enclosure so they get plenty of natural fare. I can't see how the diets can differ that much from one formula to the next. I just give it to add variety.
