new blizzard

domina Mar 24, 2004 11:09 AM

inherited a new Blizzard, and it was known that there was a problem with her before I was given her. She has a twitch and supposedly hissed at the previous owner whenever he tried to get her out. He said something about CMD or some disease. She won't breed and if she does it would probably be passed on if the eggs even made it. What type of defect could this be? and does anyone know any details on symptoms like such?

as far as I know, MBD is not genetic, altho I could be wrong. But if thats the case, I definitely wouldnt breed her for 2 reasons. First, if she has MBD, she's not fit to be carrying eggs, she will need all the calcium she can get, and eggs will continue to take that from her, worsening the problem.
Second, I personally wouldnt breed a gecko with a bad temperment, im too afraid of producing babies that will have the same "problem", as with most animals.

My suggestion is to get her to a vet to make sure she is ok, treat her for the MBD, and keep her as a pet.

Just my 2 cents.
Good Luck!
