i had some stuff called jiffy mix (enough with the pancake jokes already) and it was made for seed starting...it had vermiculite, canadian sphagnum peat moss, and lime in it. i asked on here a little while ago if i could use it, with the lime in it and all, and people told me yes. what does the ingredients say? what makes "garden vermiculite" different then regular? if it has fertilizers or anything, then obviously no, but if it is just vermiculite, sure, use it, no prob.

Try to get thr COARSE vermiculite. I got a 25# bag at a wholesale garden supplier for 11 bucks. Many of the breeders I know microwave it before using to kill any nasties. I had some lousy vermiculite from Home Depot and lost about 30 eggs this season. With the coarse stuff they're hatching out like crazy.
