Ok I have 9 leos and plan to get more but right now I need a rack. I have been waiting and checking forum on what peoples thoughts are on those plastic draw racks from stores like target. Buying these would be more convenient then building a rack which I never did. I just came in from Bed Bath & Beyond and saw some real nice plastic draw sets, One I saw had a long draw and they stacked so well its must have been like 8 draws stacked only like 3-4' high the measurements on the draws are 17-5/16"x29-1/8"x6-1/8".
Now i have heard 1 or 2 here say they have no problems then I heard some list some probles like heating, the looks compared to racks and I think trouble opening. I looked at these carefully there are no big gaps for leos to escape and the ones with the long draws are totally inclose in a plast case which the draws slide out of unlike the others which just have plastic frame. Anyone know any way that these can be used with heat tape? I was thinking putting heatape down the back but I dont know if it matters if its belly heat or back heat used for leos. I have seen a setup someone posted here using christmas lights and heat bulbs for heating but I dont like that setup. Thanks to all who reply.

Will back heat work? Depends on the ambient air temp in the room.

Bottom line: The best way to find out is to do it. It can't be that expensive to try a small stack of those plastic drawers. I would build a plywood shell around the stack of drawers, insulate the inside with styrene foam, then run the heat tape down that behind the drawers. Or, contact Nature's Spirit Snake Shacks, spend the money, get an A-Class rack and be done with it.

well i went to nature spirits and to get a size for breeding leos only has 3 tubs for $160 so to get enough for a few breeders and hatchlings im looking at a few hundred dollars $$$$$ cant afford. I wish I can see pics of people rack who have done it with the platic draws but none responded
