am i the only one here who has a turtle that is hostile towards it's owner?? i played with my turtle before, she'd bite my finger and i'd dangle it around a bit, but now she's grown...and her bites are becomin more serious...did i invoke this killer nature or does she just bite everything...
someone tell me that their turtle bites them too...so i dont feel like a bad owner

Turtles bite, and don't like being played with. I only handle my turtles when I clean the tank every few months.

My big turtle will bite at anything that comes near its head. When I pick it up to clean out the tank it reaptedly tries to bite me.

Yea, turtles will and do bite...some more than others. I don't know if it's possible to actually train a turtle not to bite, because usually the reverse happens--they associate your fingers with food (because you're training them to eat from your hands, from tweezers, etc)and the very image of you being around signifies food. My turtles start biting before I even approach the tank...

Others bite just cuz they feel threatened like any natural animal would do. Turtles aren't domesticated.

I used to hold mine all the time, and they are used to it. They have never tried biting my fingers unless i dangle them in the water like worms.
