Eliot Stone.. My south texas trip

stevenxowens792 Mar 24, 2004 02:52 PM

Eliot,

Please go to the below link for a sample of what we saw in south texas. Animals are moving, you need to be in the right are to see them. 50 plus snakes in 3 nights. It is much cooler this week than last week, so It may take a couple of hot days to get the snakes back out in force again. Keep up the looking, you will find something.

Steven,
where are you living? I have some friends who went south last weekend and said they saw just an unbelieveable amount down inbetween freer and tilden on 624 and 16. if you are in the san antonio area, reply and maybe in the next few weeks we can head down for a night. id love to find an annulata and for some reason ive always wanted a hognose.
hope to hear from you,

What were they driving? We may have saw them. Someone pulled up while we were photographing an atrox and were attempting to ask a bunch of questions. I did not want to seem rude, but I didn't want to turn my back to the animal. Plus I am not really much for roadside talking when animals are moving. Daytime is a good time for sleep and catching up with friends, night is herp time.

I don't know if I will be back south or not. What all did you see in Val Verde?

i didn't go to val verde, its a bit cold for that, i stayed in kinney county north of brackettville. apparently it was too cold for the snakes there too because i didn't see anything.
