` ... a snake that drives, but I have one that gargles.
`
` Just give him a little Hissterine, and he gargles happily until it's gone.
`
` Whaddaya think of that, Renee?
`
Still got dirty glass, drat!

` He is yawning. He will go through periods where he stargazes, and yawns constantly, for several hours. He's done it since he was a baby.
` I recently moved my computer to within sight of my snake habitats. I now have many opportunities for snapshots of their behavior.
` It's nearly impossible to keep the glass in that cage clean. There are five big Boids in there, with two soaking pans. It's amazing how much pushing and shoving goes on. Lots of water gets splashed. I've had to add forced air ventilation to lower the humidity to 80%, or less.

You had to put forced air ventalation?? a fan? wow. I see in the reflection that you have some of those new low wattage coil bulbs, haw do you like them and do they get hot?

` After I put a fan on that cage, several years ago, I put fans on all my large cages. Three inch, 110 volt computer fans, mounted on the outside, and on timers. They're cheap at the computer salvage store. Interesting thing is, the snakes are often found piled up, sleeping at the vents where the fans blow in. When they do this, their skin temperatures are in the low 70s to high 60s, for long periods of time. There are Boas and Pythons, as well as the Anacondas. They all seem to like the cool breeze.
` I just use the cheap, non-color temperature balanced coil fluorescents. The glass is quite thin, and could break from a snake coiling around it. I have plastic covers over them. The transformer in the base gets quite warm, and more so with age. I use sockets with shields and air space between the transformer and the shield. Surface temperature of the shields never gets over 110 degrees, or so. Having a non-contact, IR thermometer is quite handy.

I don't think he's gargling, I think he's yelling at the top of his lungs for someone to hurry up and get the glass cleaner already...
