a couple of questions...

I just accuired my columbian from some clients (I work at a veterinary hospital) who were planning to kill her by setting her free (I live in New Hampshire). I was told that she is approx. 2 yrs old, yet, she measures only 1 1/2 ft. Shouldnt she be bigger? She is now in a 40 gal breeder tank, but her previous owners kept her in a small 10 gal. Will she ever grow to be her full size? I know a good amount about reptiles, but have never owned a snake before. I have her humidity at about 80% and the day temp is 80-95 (from one side to the other) and the night temp is about 70-75. She is eating 2 reg size mice twice a week, and has a hide. Anything else I should do? I also have an iguana, bearded dragon, uromastyx, and a leopard gecko. Thanks in advance for your help.

WOAH... FEED YOUR BOA REGULARLY NOW. VERY VERY SMALL INDEED.

My 10mnth old Colombian is 3'. She is fed on a strict schedule of one mouse per week. That's normal.

You sound like you have everything under control now, so hopefully your Colombian will have a good home. Are you sure it is colombian? There are some Boa Constrictor sub-species that stay smaller. I am no expert, so just a thought.

If you do some simple research on Boas, you'll find they're pretty easy to keep, but get big.

Good Luck.

This is my Colombian (For visual reference)

your nightime temp should be between 78-82F. also the 80% humidity might be too much if you have it at 80% all the time. don't be afraid to let it dry out a little...bci's are prone to dermatitis...the blistered orange/pink belly scales you've probably already seen working in a vet clinic. i would also let her eat as much as she likes...offer her a small portion every 3-4 days...and get a book...your boas well being depends on it.

good luck with her! chris o
