HORSE FEEDING TUB baby boas were born in....................>

LindaH Mar 24, 2004 07:18 PM

A few people have contacted me asking about the feed tub I used Here it is. It is pretty beat up because my gelding likes to pick them up and throw them around, but it's clean. I did put duct tape around the bottom to make an even bottom edge, so Ms Muir wouldn't try to wedge her nose underneath and get under it........you know how these snakes are!!!

It is 5" high. The bottom edge is 18.5" x 18.5" and the top measures 15" x 15". The top edge is nice and wide and rounded. You can probably find them in feed stores. I buy mine through equine catalogs. If anyone wants specific catalog info, email me, and I'll send you web addresses or toll free numbers.

I was amazed at how it affected Ms Muir's behavior THE MINUTE I put it in her enclosure. She had been very restless, searching, probing, never stopping.........the whole impending birth thing. When she saw this tub, she became totally engrossed in it and spent a whole evening inspecting every inch of it. I don't have the sort of set up that Rich Ihle has with the taller Neodesha's....like in his video. I had Ms Muir in two connected Boaphile's that are very long, but only 12" high. I put this tub in with her just to see what she would do, never suspecting that she would react the way she did.

It was amazing how she completely stopped all that cruising and searching, immediately. When I went to bed that night she was all over the tub and when I woke up it was full of babies with her peeking in at them!!!
