Mercury Vapor Lamps

Blakes_girl Feb 10, 2003 12:14 AM

How does everyone feel about the mercury vapor lamps? Right now I'm using the combination of ReptiSun 5.0 and a 150 W bulb. I've been looking into them and it almost seems like a good idea, but I haven't talked to anyone who has actually tried them. Thanks!

on everything from Green Iguanas to Uromastyx, including some of the Tegus. Some folks say that the Tegus don't need the UVB but a pair of my youngsters started showing signs of calcium deficiency when I was using an older fluorescent UVB on them. I specifically use 160 watt flood PowerSun bulbs by ZooMed now. I've been very happy with the performance of these bulbs. The results I'm seeing in rescued Green Igs with MBD is very gratifying. They generate less heat than I expected...I'm getting 95 degree basking spots at approximately 22-24 inches. I've had a couple of bulbs stop lighting but ZooMed is very prompt about replacing these bulbs when I send them back.
