What do u think ... due to money and space constraints?

leopfan Mar 24, 2004 08:59 PM

I have a leo in a 20 long which is 30 inches wide by 12 deep. Hence my post, what about dividing tank and putting a green anole or bearded dragon baby in other half? That leaves each 15X12X16 room to grow. I probably know what answers I will get but really it seems kinda OK. I think since my leo only uses a grand total of 4 square inches in his 20 long he could share. I can maintain 2 warm and 2 cool hides and they would be divided with a NON clear divider. One out in the day, and one out in the night

Opinions welcome...

I do want something else and a snake has been forbidden (which I most certainly would have in his/her own cage) but anyway beardeds or anoles seem relatively easy to keep as is my gecko

Thanks

Not the beardie, they need higher heat temps and uvb as well not to mention that is to small of a space. If you have a bearded dragon and a leo that close to each other you will way overheat that leo, I would definatly go with the other one, just my opinion though, good luch what ever you decide.

Sorry to burst your bubble dude but if you have money constraints why don't you instead pick one animal to keep and give it a proper home instead of buying everything and not having a place to put them. Also if you buy 3 different animals they all need different food needs, which will also be costly.

I wanted a gecko and a corn snake and I got the gecko. Wife wont allow the snake, so thats outta the picture. Had I been allowed to get a snake I would have caged it seperate and spent the money blah blah.

The gecko is living in a 20 gal paradise and comes out for about 3 hours a day (before I sleep that is) and lives in hide rest of time. Love her to death but want something else. New challenge so to speak. One gecko can live there whole life in a 10 gal. (so I have read) and a 10 gal tank is only 20 inches wide. Correct me if Im wrong. Green anoles share same diet and same requirement with more humidity. Thats just a summary folks Im sure someone can pick that sentence apart and if Im totally false then go ahead I have already been corrected on the beardy and that was the advice I needed.

So in short I want another lizard (so to speak)which would give me 2 pets not 3 and feeding etc is not my money issue. The money issue lies in another 300 dollars and another complete set up and turning my house into a pet store upsetting my better half

So why not split tank and make two very beautiful paradises for two very beautiful lizards? Trust me they will be well taken care of I just hand fed my leo liquids for a week nursing her back to health.

That leaves me with the idea of a green anole. Sure since Im bored and on a roll here why not just keep blabbing. SO I could do moist hide and dry hide, water dish etc on one side. Hot end and middle of 20 gal would be cool. Set in tank divider and do basking limbs on far end of the 20 gal with water dish and plants etc leaving the middle of tank for cool down area with 2 hides for the anole. Mist anole side twice a day with mist bottle I use for gecko. Use paper towel and tile substrate throughout. They both like mealies.. red lights at night like I do now. I think life would be good...

O well still interested in opinions if anyone cares to reply.

Thanks
