Ground Turkey!

Ghost425 Mar 24, 2004 09:16 PM

Do you think I could feed my SITBs ground turkey chunks? They will eat anything, right out of my hands.

Processed foods such as ground meats for human consumption are not designed for pet reptiles. Snakes need whole prey items because they use more than just the 'meat' portion of the prey. Trace minerals and vitamins come from the gut contents and calcium from bones, hair provides roughage, and the meat provides proteins. Ground turkey, or any partial meat product, doesn't provide the nutrients the animals need in their diet. Stick with pinkies, anoles, geckos or frogs (in other words, natural prey items).
