If you want to add a flourescent light on a timer then goo ahead, but run basking lights 24/7 then you will have a good temp gradient and your lizard can decide when it wants to bask or sleep etc not you telling it. The basking spot should be on one end as to produce a natural gradient that goes from 86-90 f down to room temp or just above on the opposite end. Basking lights should make a surface temp that goes from 130-165 (my ackie uses 188 f, cork gets hot on the surface). Ask around about ackies many here love em, there so active like a chipmunk, like nothing else thats for sure.
