Substrate question

Suntzu18 Mar 25, 2004 12:14 AM

Hey gang..thanks for all the help with my heat and humidity questions. I have a 4'x2' melamine tank that looks great but was having trouble getting the environment right for my BRB. I am using a ceramic heat emitter with a rheostat and a Zoo-med redi reptile waterfall for the humidity..so far it seems to be doing good.

I am using newspaper as a sunstrate and also moss in the tank. The newspaper seems to get wet (not soaked but pretty damp) mainly from the condensation off the reptile waterfall. Is it ok to have the newspaper wet pretty much the whole time?

Thanks in advance.

Brian

I have been using an indoor/outdoor green carpet/turf and it works great.

It looks nice, very easy to spot clean and I bought a 9'x9' piece at my Hardware store for $3. Needless to say that I have enough to last me forever.

It holds up well to the humidity too.

If you are going to take the time to have nice looking extras (waterfall) you might as well have a nice looking substrate too.

Good luck.
