I’m open to any suggestions or additives for comfort and well being of my Easterns and Black Tails.
Here is what I’ve been working on this winter
Poplar wood ¼” 7’x 2’x 2’
Will be completely lined with thin Plexiglas and sealed.
Large circular hole cut with flush mounted PVC into the divider to allow the snake access to the entire cage. I’m installing a slide door across the hole for maintenance on one side at a time and to allow male introduction also for the female to retreat during breed.
The font access to the cage will have ¼” Plexiglas on hinges.
I will use radiant heat panels on one side with venting supplying some heat to the opposite side.
I have about $275.00 invested in wood for three large enclosures and plan on building three more next winter. The vents, Plexiglas and lighting I have purchased from Home Depot. The vents are 7”x 4” and have nylon screen backing $1.98 a piece. The lighting is cheap “o” 22” Florissant fixtures $16.00 a piece. Still looking for hinges for the front accesses. Here is what these enclosures look like so far.
Thanks for any other suggestions.
