Have you looked at geckos? leapord geckos are cool and cheap not to mention inexpensive due to they are nocturnal they don't expensive lighting. Also Israeli Sand Geckos are a little bit smaller and even cheaper than leapord geckos.

Ive got a site for you it's pretty much the only one that I could find any real information about Israeli Sand Geckos and it has some leapord gecko stuff on their to.

I'm thinking a Jackson's Chameleon, if your temps are actually LOW enough, and there's a very quiet environment for it. The size of the screen cage matters, though--they don't need a GIANT cage, but they need one of adequate size. You'd probably need a humidifier unless you live somewhere where the humidity is very high normally. The screen cage really wouldn't work for the desert lizards mentioned, I wouldn't think. Unless you get a nocturnal species, you will need UVB lighting, though.

I do not think a chameleon (any species) should be someone's first lizard - unless they have a herp vet nearby, the $$ to care for it ()vet bills, food, supplements, gutloading feeders, able to provide proper lighting and humidity.

just my opinion...

mxrider129 do you have any clue of what a screen cage is I dont think you should be on this site because you have no clue what your talking about,a green anole is the only thing that fits your description

Probably not, though it honestly depends on the amount of research they do ahead of time. There's actually nothing else he COULD keep in the described cage, though.

He'd be better off getting something that can hold heat and humidity better. I would NOT put a green anole in a screen cage in an area that is generally cool, as he described it.

a crested gecko is perfect for you.
