DHL(Airborne) Mix up - Time to switch to FedEx

JaredAren Mar 25, 2004 10:38 AM

I shipped two adult BRB's through DHL(Airborne). I shipped them overnight with gauranteed morning deliver. The next day the person I shipped them to let me know that DHL made him aware that the package was going to be delayed due to a plane breaking down. They also told him that they do not have gauranteed am delivery in his area. This would have been nice to know before I shipped them out. Next the buyer made me aware that DHL was now telling him that the package was held two hours from its detination until a driver can come back to pick it up. They told him that it should be at his local station at 6pm. When 6pm came and went the buyer called DHL and they told him that they could not find the package. It finally arrived this morning at 8am. I think its time to switch to FedEx. I have not heard from the buyer yet about the conditon of the boas but I assume they ok becasue no news is good news.

I'd have to agree with you. I just recieved a pair of peruvian redtail boas today. Although they were on time, I'm suprised that the poor little critters were still alive. First off, the box was just left on the doorstep. The guy didn't bother to knock on the door or ring the doorbell. If it were the middle of summer they could have roasted! Since I was expecting the package I happened to be looking out the window at the time and brought the box inside immediately. When I opened the door, the box which was clearly marked LIVE HARMLESS REPTILES this end up, was lying on it's side. Upon opening it, it looked like the snakes had taken quite a ride in the last 24 hours. I am astonished at the lack of care that my package recieved.

The boas did arrive alive and healthy. I am glad I waited two weeks to ship them out.

Can you do that with FedEx? I think they told me that they don't ship live animals. Don't you have to lie about the contents of the box with them?
