One more important question.

What do you guys think? Male or Female? The western is about 3 years old. And by the size you would think male, but it was neglected by its previous owner. ANd by the tail length i would definately say male. But when i had her probed by my boss he said female. He has never dealt w/ hognose snakes b/4 and i think he may be wrong. WHen he probed it he said it was very tight, and it only went up 4 scales, but i want your opinions b/c i am waiting to finalize a trade for an adult pair, and i dont want to have 2 males (although they are awesome snakes). Thanks 4 lookin! Ben Hoksch

The probe your boss used was probably to big. I would say, from the picture, that is a male.

When you get the adult pair and compair tails, you'll see they are very easy to tell apart.

With that tail length it is a male. I'm 99% sure. I have found tail length to be an even better indicator than probing for hognoses, as they don't probe as deeply as say a cornsnake and they tend to "clinch" when being probed, often giving unclear results.
