Hi, I have worked with snakes for many years and am very interested in crocodilians. I was looking to get a dwarf caimen in a few years after I get the necessary knowleged and experience. I have a whole room in my basement set aside for a cage large enough to accomodate a 4-6 foot crocodilian. However I live in a state where they are illegal. I talked to a lady with the permit dept. at the wildlife board and she was very rude, smug, snide, and smarmy. She basically told be that they would never give a private individual a permit to have a crocodilian in a private collection, even if hell froze over. I was wondering in a case like this are there any loopholes or ways around something like that. I was thinking of applying for a zoological business licence, and then later applying for the permit. Or I know in some states you can technically have illegal animals as long as they don't escape. I don't want to break the law, I know I could just keep it in my basement without any one knowing but I want it to be legal. So am I just S.O.L.? Thanks in advance.
