Hey all. I'm not as much of a skink person...I'm more into monitors and tegus and the like but I have an adult female (I think) Irian Jaya Blue tongue...She was about 22" when I got her and she's now 31" and 2 pounds. I did't think they were supposed to get that big. Is that normal? Anyone know for sure?...I'm kind of sceptical of internet care sheets because I find people normally just get adult sizes etc. from books and generally don't know themselves...So if anyone could tell me if that's normal that'd be great. She's calming down on eating (I think she's done her growth spurt)...But she's still eating about 3-4 adult mice a week, some canned wellnes dog food once in a while, reptomin Gel, maybe 25 crickets a week, aquivalent to about a banana and a half, maybe a finch or two, cherries, Kale...and this is all in ONE WEEK! taidus, a 31 inch blue tongue is definetely NOT normal...if yours was truly that big, it would be the largest blue tongued skink ever recorded...i am rather skeptical of what size you say she is and also of her diet...you claim she eats 4 adult mice, 25 crickets, fruits, vegetables, dogfood, retomin gel, and a finch or two ( what the hell is a finch??? isn't that a type of bird???) all in ONE WEEK...i just don't see how that is possible. is there any way you can back up your claim by posting a picture of this skink next to a measuring stick or tape measure?? i am not trying to call you out... i have just never heard of such things.
K...The length I just checked for MYSELF...thank you to my vet. The weight is right, but she is only ~26"...and as for the food...there is no exageration!.....She's a PIG!...She gets like 3-4 mice, 1 finch (yes...the bird...she only gets these every second week...you should how much my tegu likes these...the joy of working in a pet store 
)...2 dozen crickets, reptomin gel, canned wellness dog food, cherries (her favorite) and banana (maybe only one) on top of that...and yes all in a week (except for the bird)...And she still normally looks hungry...but I refuse to feed her anymore than that...I think she's a little confused. She seems to think she too is a tegu.
