Is my new female carrying eggs???

chunks_89 Mar 25, 2004 02:43 PM

Here is a pic of my new female veiled, she has laid one clutch of infertile eggs before in December, and I can't tell if she is carrying eggs or not. She was just shipped here yesterday, and i have found the white (liquid) part of her droppings on the floor of the cage but no solids yet. I have not actually seen her drink so far. Havn't seen her eat either, but i havn't checked if the bugs are gone yet or not.

that "lump" her back legs sure look like an egg. I thought Luna was gravid (I am sure she was, so was the vet) but she must have reabsorbed them because it has been nearly 4 months. One of the things I was looking for was the egg near hind legs - just like yours has. If you just got her make sure she gets her calcium. I ended up giving Luna liquid cal. b/c she had stopped eating.

they develop and lay anyway. I doubt a bred one would reabsorb fertile eggs like a non-fertile but Luna never got as far along as yours(well, the eggs by her butt). You may want toset up a laying area as well.

But the swelling was caused by edema because she was egg bound.
I would provide her with a laying tub to see if she lays some eggs and if not see a herp vet.
