Is this normal breeding behavior

my male bobs his head tilts his back to the female and runs circles around her. then when he decided to try to mate with her he ran around twice faster than i thought her could move jumped on her back, bit the back of her head on the corner , but then he let go and ran away again with out accually doing anything
this would be his first time with a female as far as i know

sounds pretty normal to me. think of it as rough foreplay.

This is normal. If the female isn't ready then a lot of the time the actual breeding doesn't occur after his courtship. Males that are inexperienced will only get to this stage and not actually do the deed quite frequently.
