Looking at getting an Iguana

dkbutterfly Mar 25, 2004 07:54 PM

Hi! I've loved Iguanas for as long as I can remember and saw that Jack Aquarium and pets had some young Iguanas for $16. I've been wanting to buy one for the last year or so and always backed out because I wasn't sure what they needed. I have a Green Basilisk that's about 5 months old and I am looking at buying him a bigger cage (he's in a 20 gal long) and thought since the Iguana is still pretty small putting one in there until I get a bigger tank for him as well. But what do they need? Can anyone give me any information about caring for them? How tame are they? And are they able to be let out to walk around and things? I also heard a story about the males being very protective of (human) girls when they are on their period. And they will actually attack people for coming near them...is this true? or even possible? Thanks guys for listening!
