Laying eggs...when will she be ready!??!! FRUSTRATING!

dmlove Mar 25, 2004 08:52 PM

Well alright my female is BUSTING OUT with eggs, has TONS in her stomach! Ive had her in the laying box for about 4 hours each day or more, she digs a little on the shallow side and then just sits on top of the mind. Normally i wouldnt mind, but first she is not eating (means she is ready) and today she was digging like CRAZY in her cage, but she wont lay! I have a rubbermaid tub with soil piled on one side and a light on the shallow other side. A top is coverd almost all the way except where the light is. Any suggestions? tried a warm bath, but no go either, besides pooping, lol.

Give her time, each female is different, it wont always go textbook fashion. I have one female who only pigs out for about a week and a half, stops eating, then still doesn't lay for another 2 to 3 weeks. As long as she has the proper nesting environment, and is kept hydrated, she will lay her eggs when she is ready. So give her some more time and don't worry too much. She will do her business when she knows it is time.
