Saw some dragons in the paper...

beardielover13 Mar 25, 2004 09:15 PM

I was looking through the classifieds in our town's paper and saw 3 bearded dragons for sale. The first was a year old that was kept with a younger cage mate and the ad said they needed to be seperated. The other ad had a one year old bearded dragon for sale. It came with a 20-gallon tank. I am trying to get my parents to let me get more, but they just won't give in. I feel like the dragon in the second ad neds me to save it. i have enough room, but i am getting ready to leave for France and Italy as a student ambassador soon. Any ideas to help me get my parents to give in would be great.

Sounds like those dragons really need a caring owner. It always amazes me why people buy a beardie without the least interest in its well-being! 20 gallon tank for a 1 year old? An adult beardie together with a young beardie??? Oh man...

The thing I'm wondering about though, is how you plan on caring for these animals when you go abroad to study? Perhaps I misunderstood your post...?

I think you misunderstood my post. I am going for 3 weeks. My parents are already planning on taking care of my two adults and 23 baby dragons.

It sounds like these animals need a loving home that would support them. I would look for a good home for them among your friends because it sounds like you will be out of town and unable to care for them. They take daily care and are not inexpensive to feed. So think of what is best for the animal, instead of what you want. When you come back might be a better time to consider the purchase of a Beardie.

Also, I wouldn't plan on taking them with you. I am pretty sure flying overseas they won't let you take them on the plane, but I could be wrong. Like someone else said, if you have a friend that is interested and keeps herps, let him/her know about the ad you saw. Bet they would be willing to help.
