A few new brooksi morphs (pics)

bluerosy Mar 25, 2004 09:36 PM

Peanut Butter morph. Unusual name given mostly because the "hypo" name was already taken. This has been proven not to be compatiple with the regular and more common "hypo" brooksi. Adults have more of a coffee or Peanut Butter coloration.

Here is a pic of a baby Peanut Butter brooksi. You can see how the babies look like a lavender at first and then get more pigment as they mature:

another neonate Peanut Butter:

comparison pic. Peanut butter male....a light PB het female... and a normal PB het. :

This is just a normal hypo but with high red. He will be my male breeder this year. You can tell the good high reds by the red color on the head. ...If the baby (neonate) is red and has a yellow head chances are they will NOT retain the red into adulthood as well. Choose your offspring purchases wisely!

I like these dark hypos as well:

true albino Flame amel....flame away
Still won't have any of these avaliable this year as I am holding on to all the babies except..I might let a few double hets go with the morph listed below.... (see below)

AMELANISTIC DREAM KINGS. Dream King X Tim Ricks lavender brooksi...These have become my favorite. This is an old pic when they were neonates. I will be the only one with these on the planet. They are huge adults and I will be breeding them for the first time this year. I will also be crossing my flame amel into these for double hets....or we will see if the lavender (Ricks) and amel is somehow allelic (connected).

Cool pics!! How is that light colored het pb female turning out. She has a different look to her. Its almost like she is taking on some of the pb look but not all of it.

She is definelty getting lighter now but I can't figure her out. I think I am safer to say she is a het rather than a PB. Well have to wait and see.

Interesting new morphs. Do you have any photos of those Brooksi X Eastern kings? I would be interested in seeing some photos of adults and juveniles if you have any.

Thanks,
J.D.

Is the Dream King a hybrid, thought they were created from Brooksi/Goini breeding.Tell us the history on these.

...including the fakes that are out there.

The history on these goes back several years when a sulfer yellow brooksi was produced by Andy Barr and Mike Falcon. It was the foundation of the breeding program for the Dream Kings. Problem is Andy Barr also bred a goini to a brooksi so there are two lines, one real and one is a cross.

The real Dream king was then bred to Tim Ricks line and that is were the red comes from. Anyone who has had Dream kings can attest to thier size and unusual chained yellow pattern.

Here is a what a amel goiniXbrooksi looks like . Can you see the difference ?
Produced by Sheila McQuade or Gulf Coast reptiles:

and this lavender one was produced by Don Stipp. It is a cross between a goini and Calif king:

That dream kings had cal king crossed into them for the albino gene. The cal king influence would not do anything for the dream king's look though. And then I talk to people that don't think anything has been crossed into them... It seems that the skepticism comes from the fact that Andy Barr produces many (mostly?) hybrids, and has produced albino "Florida" lemon kings, which are Cal king crosses. Maybe you have more insight on this than the people that are just assuming one way or the other.

bluerosy Mar 26, 2004 08:00 PM

The Dream kings never had albino calif genes bred into them. Matter of fact there are no other Albino Dream Kings around. The Dream king has been around for 11 plus years. But not the albino Dream King. These are the first amels and the gene definetly comes from the Tim Ricks stock of amel brooksi. How do I know this? Because I am the only person in the world with amel Dream Kings. There are no other amel Dreams (with Calif blood in them or otherwise) in existence. So I don't know how you could have heard this since none others exist except these.

Looking at the post with the two fake amel crosses I can see how my post got confusing. You thought I was reffering to those as Dream kings. No those are not I was responding to someones question and posted those fakes to compare.I was answering an earlier post. If you look at my first post on these it shows the true Albino Dream Kings. The post you reffered to has the fakes. The Gulf Coast amel is a Lemon king crossed with a goini and the second animal is by Don Stipp and it is Calif King X florida king. The Lemon kings that produced the Gulf Coast reptiles have calif king in them. That is were the amel gene is derived from.

The Dream kings came from a pure sulfer yellow floridana and then recently it was crossed into Tim Ricks line of amel brooksi. The Tim Ricks line of lavenders is accepted by most to be pure and not have calif king in them. In any case they are pure floridana.

whew!

The only person in the world with albino dream kings????? Andy has been producing Lavender Dream Kings for years.......and from Tim Ricks stock. I've seen them......I've raised them......and I've sold them off. Looked identical to yours and I sold the adults last summer......got them in 2000 with the goini crosses and the lemon kings, which were all sold to one person.

i have a light penut butter het same colours, heres the thing my herper is charging me 65$ for the creature, i couldnt pay upfront so he trusted me enuff to let me hold it, well now i have had it for going on three weeks, helped him thru a shed calmed him down, (when he came to me the creature was a nervous wreck n had a lil bit of a temper) now hes docile i take him out of his hide no problem only one thing he mostly stays in his hide on the cooler side? my desert king that i have had for going on two months who i purchased for the same price was and is smaller one, and alot more of a socialble snake he cruises his terrainum checks me out n all around seems to be comfortable or at least from what i can tell, now i the pb het is bigger but not as socialable i was thinking that mabey the person or persons who raised him kinda put this imprint on him so im thinking about telling my herper to take him back, i love the het kings, but i really have my heart set on an albino banded Female to mabey cross breed with my desert king? thoughts? Mike.

bluerosy Mar 26, 2004 07:58 AM

I don't think what you have is a Peanut Butter het as I was the only person to breed them last year .

>> i really have my heart set on an albino banded Female to mabey cross breed with my desert king? thoughts? Mike.

have you thought about getting a desert king to breed to your desert king? you'd be producing more of the natural kind, and you could see how each parent influenced the appearance of the various babies they had, which ones looked like mom, like dad, etc., or which characteristics of each parent show up on some of the diff babies. And by seeing more desert kings, you'd get more insight into which natural "look" of them most pleases you, and by watching them grow you'd see how their appearances change over time.
