HELP!!! What kind of Gecko is this??

Hayblinkin Mar 25, 2004 10:12 PM

I just bought this little baby Gecko from the petshop. There seemed to be some confusion there on what it was. But it was coexiting with the Leopard Gecko babies, and seeing as I have my own 2 leopard Gecko babies, I couldn't resist bringing him home. I have had many Leopard Gecko adults and babies and he looks somewhat like a Leopard gecko, but I'm sure he's not. If anyone knows please let me know. thanks heres the picture....

The only other thing that you could obtain from a shop of that form would be a Banded Gecko (Coleonyx Variegatus) or a Fat tail. This is not a banded because it has a sarrated tail and not a fattail because of the head shape. Therefore it must be a leopard. He will be ok with your babies.

Thanks guys!! Anybody else have any suggestions??

I agree with them that it's probably a leo, but my question to you is.....why would you purchase a gecko (from a petshop), not even knowing what it is?

That is a leucistic (patternless) leopard gecko. As it gets older, it will lose the spots/pattern with each shed. Mine started off with more pattern than yours, and is now a nice solid tang. color....

Dakman Mar 26, 2004 10:41 AM

Thats correct. Its a Patternless Leo and those spots will fade away as it grows/sheds. Nice Leos they are.

I have him in with 2 leopard geckos. Do they eat the same stuff and need the same enviironment? He seems to like worms and attempted to catch a cricket while I was watching. Is it same to assume then that hee goes after crickets and worms when I'm not looking? I wanna make sure he's eating. He seems pretty healthy. What do you guys think from the picture? Does anyone have a piture of their Leucisic babies and/or adults? I'd love to see.

It is the same species as you other leopard geckos. It is just a different color morph that popped up kind of like piebald fancy mice or something.

they are a little bigger than her. But i made sure for pretty much a whole day that they got along. They all go in their little cave together and hang out now. Their cute...Look at the pictures in the next message......

Hayblinkin Mar 30, 2004 09:12 AM

Aren't they cute?

WingedWolfPsion Mar 30, 2004 10:22 PM

If the other two are older, you should keep the little one seperately. She may not be able to compete for food. The truth is, she shouldn't have been put in with them until she had been quarantined for at least 4 months to ensure she wasn't sick with something that could be passed on to your other two. You've taken a huge risk with their health, I'm sorry to say.
