Problems with Temperatures!!!! Please Help!

tuwhada Mar 25, 2004 10:35 PM

I have been redoing alot of my frog enclosures and I was told to ditch my uth and just have the bulb on top with the uvb bulb. Well I setup one of my tanks by removing the uth and adding a sunglo 60watt bulb. I noticed that at the bottom of hte tank it was only 74 which is chilly I then put a therm right under the bulb at the top of the tank and it was 95-100 which seems to hot. I know they need a heat gradient I did not check what the temp was in the far corner that 74 is the bottom of the tank beneath the light. I am assuming the corner furthest from the bulb is colder. Is this too drasitc, I feel like they should be closer together in temparature and closer to the 80's. It hink part of hte problem is that the tank is so tall it is 25 inches tall... any ideas!!!!

Also at night my temps are only around 67-70 is that too cold???

Any advise,
Thanks
Christina

Like they said in the other forum, 74 is fine. It is not "chilly". Your frogs will seek warmth when needed, and vice versa.
