? on new habitat I am building for Peabody (Redfoot)

Linda G Mar 26, 2004 08:55 AM

Hi,

It's that time, Peabody is going on 2 years and needs a larger
enclosure.

My thought is to use indoor/outdoor carpet for most of
the enclosure but then to build in an area where I can
put several inches of mulch for his humid area. Would
this work OK, or do I need mulch in his whole area?
I currently have his whole enclosure covered with mulch

Thanks in advance
Linda

Forget about the carpet idea. I tried the same thing, thinking it would be so much more easier to clean & look nicer in my redfoot's indoor enclosure.

Let's just say, the proper substrates absorb urine, etc, much better.

My tortoise also became ill from the carpet & it was most likely because it just wasn't "kicking" up the humidity proper substrate "kicks" up.

Hope that helps a bit.
