Who are the experts here?

Pajta Mar 26, 2004 09:16 AM

Hi, yesterday I bought three snakes. Their owner didn't know what kind of snakes he had in it's house. I know it are Pituophis, but can someone tell me what kind of Pituophis they are? Pictures included.

Hi there:

They are almost certainly gopher snakes. What type of gopher snake? I can't really tell you because they are some odd unfamiliar color morph. Almost definately gopher snakes.

Albino San Diego gophers, maybe Applegates, but I can't tell due to the brightness of the pic. Very nice snakes!!!!!!

I believe that this one could be a T albino San Diego gopher.

Just my guess.

Hey Billy whats up bro .
I agree with yeah , it looks like a T Albino , maybe a Mcguardy line (sorry for the mispelling on name). I would say they are for sure San Diegos Gophers and they are beautyfully looking snakes .

Although I've kept snakes for many years,I've never considered myself an expert, but I do have an opinion.
The only experts I have found are the animals themselves.

Being that as it is, this is what I have contrived.

I downloaded the pic that was sent and blew it up to a much larger size, cleared the fuzzy lines and came to a couple conclusions.

Possibility #1--- There are actually 2 snakes side by side.
The head being a Gopher Snake, (of some type), the other part a Jungle Corn.

Possibility #2--- Crossbreed between a Gopher Snake and a Lampropeltis.

If you know the genetics of this snake, I really would like to know.

Hi, thanx to you all.
I've been searching for almost the entire day yesterday and I've found the breeder (check the Link). I've send him an email to see what he can tell me. A soon as I get an answer, I will let you know.

Greetings, Tom (Belgium)

According to the breeder, it are San Diego Gophers. One Hypo, one albino het. hypo and one Barzcyk albino. The snakes were capture bred 2001.
