When to move up to 2 pinkies

pafmonkey Mar 26, 2004 09:38 AM

Hello all. I am a new corn snake parent. I have a beautiful 4 month old anrythristic who is currently eating two pinkies a week. I am wondering if there are any size or weight guidelines for moving him up to 2 pinkies at a feeding. I realize it is probably early yet - but it is one of the few questions I have not been able to get answered in my research. Thanks for your input.

Justtry two of the smalles pinkies you can find and feed them at once. If that is no problem you should be able to start with three pinkies soon en step up to fuzzy's in 3 or 4 weeks.

Thanks so much! I'll give it a try - he is scheduled for a feeding tonight.

You said he eats 2 a week? so you must be feeding him twice a week now? When you go to larger meals, switch to just once a week. Bigger meals take longer to digest.

I sometimes find my self in the minority on this forum, but thats ok. Heres how I feed. I buy my mice in bulk. I currently have small, pinks, large pinks, fuzzies, hoppers, sm mice and adult mice. I feed one mouse per feeding. If the snake doesn't have a noticible lump in it's belly I move up in size. Its always worked well for me. My smallest baby is only 15 grams right now I will probably feed her two pinks at a time to get rid of some of the small pinks if I dont pick up another small hatchling at the show this weekend. My wife thinks I'm going to the show to get rats for the big snakes. We'll see what follows me home.
