Leo's not eating

jeffro9 Mar 26, 2004 09:59 AM

My leo's are not eating. I am not sure why. I have been manually feeding them because since I have purchased them they just have not eaten on their own. The lady that had them before fed them mealworms with a plastic fork. She spoiled them too much. I have been unable to get them to eat in any way, shape, or form.

what have you tried to feed them?
how did you try to feed them
what are your temps?
how long have you had them?
what size cage do you have them in?
how many do you have?
how big are they?

the more information you can give the better.

I have had them 1 month. 2 Leo's one is 6" and the other is 5.5". One has much more girth and is a year older. Age's one and two. They are in a 20 gallon long. 50 watt day bulb and the ground temps are 87. I feed them meal worms in a dish. I have also tried crickets. Since I last wrote I did finally see one of my leo's eat two mealworms. I have just changed over my substrate to linolium flooring from calcite sand. I was afraid maybe compaction even though calcite is supposed to be digestable. I am afraid that they will not survive. They should be eating better. Should there be a humid hide box in cage I have heard some do and some don't? I do not think can catch crickets.

It sounds like you need to read a few good caresheets...Here's a link for mine www.freewebs.com/stinauiuc/caresheet.htm. As far as your leos not eating...have you been counting the number of feeders you've put in and taken out?...Some leos won't eat if they know any people are around.
